Restaurant Renovation Contractor Serving Toronto & the GTA

Built for the pace and precision that food service demands — compliant kitchens, on-brand dining rooms, and a team that understands your opening date isn’t negotiable.

Trusted by restaurant tenants and operators across the Greater Toronto Area

Restaurant Renovations Require a Different Level of Coordination

Renovating a restaurant space is one of the most complex categories of commercial construction. You’re dealing with commercial kitchen infrastructure, hood suppression systems, grease interceptors, specialized ventilation, and strict health code requirements — on top of everything a standard commercial renovation involves. Miss a detail in the back of the house, and you won’t pass inspection. Fall behind in the front of house, and your opening gets pushed.

Silcon Construction has delivered restaurant service construction projects across the GTA, including tenant fit-out within active mall environments. We understand the regulatory layers, the trade sequencing, and the hard pressure of a lease start date that won’t move. We come in prepared, coordinate every trade from rough-in through to final finishes, and deliver spaces that pass inspection and last under the daily punishment of a busy service operation.

Trusted on high-traffic commercial sites

What Restaurant Clients Tell Us Before They Call

"We have a soft opening date locked in and staff already hired."

Restaurant owners often have staff onboarded, marketing underway, and a soft-launch commitment made before construction wraps up. We treat your opening date as a fixed constraint, not a target — and we build the entire project schedule around protecting it.

"We need a contractor who actually understands commercial kitchen requirements."

A commercial kitchen isn’t just a room with appliances. It requires coordinated rough-ins for gas, electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and fire suppression — all of which must be completed in the correct sequence and to the appropriate specifications before any equipment is installed. We’ve done this before, and we know the order of operations.

"We're in a mall or plaza and the rules around construction hours are tight."

Food-service tenants in enclosed malls and commercial plazas face property-management restrictions on construction hours, especially for noisy or disruptive work. We schedule demo, core drilling, and loud phases within approved windows and manage the building relationship throughout the project.

"Our brand has a very specific look, and we can't afford for it to be interpreted loosely."

Whether you’re a franchise operator with a corporate design package or an independent owner with a custom concept, your space has to be built to your vision. We work from your drawings, coordinate with your designer, and execute finishes to spec — not to approximation.

"We went over budget on a previous build and can't let that happen again."

Restaurant construction budgets get blown when scope creep goes unchecked and when hidden conditions in the existing space aren’t surfaced early. We walk the site thoroughly before we quote, flag every risk we can see, and give you a realistic number — not a low-ball figure that grows after you’ve signed.

Restaurant Renovation Services We Deliver

Full Tenant Fitout & Shell-to-Finished Space

We take a raw or vanilla box unit and build it out from scratch — framing, rough-ins, drywall, ceilings, flooring, finishes, and millwork. If you’re entering a new lease on an unfinished space, we manage the entire scope from day one to handover.

Commercial Kitchen Construction & Rough-In

Kitchen construction is the critical path on any restaurant renovation. We coordinate gas, plumbing, electrical, and ventilation rough-ins in the correct sequence so equipment installation happens on time and inspections don’t have to be rescheduled. We work alongside your kitchen equipment supplier and ensure the mechanical infrastructure is ready when they arrive.

Exhaust Hood & Ventilation Coordination

Commercial kitchen exhaust systems require coordination between the hood supplier, the HVAC subcontractor, the sheet metal contractor, and the fire suppression installer. We manage that coordination so nothing falls between the cracks — and so your makeup air and exhaust system is balanced and code-compliant before you call for inspection.

Grease Interceptor & Plumbing Rough-In

We coordinate the sizing, placement, and installation of grease interceptors in compliance with your municipality’s sewer use bylaw requirements. All plumbing rough-ins — floor drains, prep sink lines, dishwasher connections, handwash stations — are laid out correctly before concrete is poured or flooring goes down.

Front-of-House Build & Finishes

Dining room framing, feature walls, bar builds, host stand millwork, booth installation blocking, ceiling features, and decorative finishes. The front of house is where your brand lives — we execute it to the level of detail your concept demands.

Commercial Flooring

Quarry tile, porcelain, polished concrete, epoxy, and anti-slip safety flooring for kitchen and prep areas. LVT, hardwood, decorative tile, and specialty flooring for dining rooms. We install the right surface for each zone and ensure transitions and cove base details meet health code requirements.

Millwork & Custom Builds

Host stands, bar tops, banquette framing, display shelving, server stations, and custom decorative elements. Restaurant millwork has to look good and function under heavy daily use — we build for both.

Washroom Construction & Compliance

Public washroom builds to Ontario Building Code requirements, including accessible stall configurations, proper fixture counts based on occupancy load, and finish standards that hold up in a food service context.

Landlord & Property Management Coordination

For restaurant tenants in malls, plazas, or mixed-use developments, we manage all required approvals, access bookings, and construction protocol compliance with property management — so your project doesn’t stall waiting on a sign-off you didn’t know you needed.

Refresh & Renovation of Existing Restaurant Spaces

Not every project is a ground-up fitout. If you’re refreshing an existing location — updating the dining room, renovating the kitchen, refreshing the bar, or rebranding an existing space — we accurately scope the work and execute with minimal disruption to surrounding tenants or to your own operations, where applicable.

Why Restaurant Owners and Operators Choose Silcon in the GTA

We Understand What a Restaurant Actually Needs

Food service construction is its own discipline. The back-of-house requirements, the health code details, the sequencing of kitchen rough-ins, the relationship between exhaust and makeup air — these aren’t things you learn on the fly. We’ve built restaurant spaces in demanding environments, and bring that experience to your project.

Compliance Built Into Every Phase

From the first rough-in to the final finish, we build to meet Ontario Building Code and Toronto Public Health requirements. We’re also active on ISNetworld-registered and Avetta-compliant job sites, which matters when you’re working in a mall or property-managed building that vets its contractors. You’re not hiring a crew that figures out compliance after the fact.

One Point of Contact, Daily Accountability

Your dedicated site supervisor manages the job from mobilization to handover. You get regular updates and site photos throughout the project — not silence followed by a call about a problem. Restaurant operators are managing a hundred other things during a build. We make sure the construction isn’t one of them.

Restaurant & Food Service
Projects We've Delivered

Silcon Construction has completed fitout and renovation work at Upper Canada Mall, Scarborough Town Centre, and Maplelands on Bloor Street — environments where construction quality, compliance, and coordination are non-negotiable from the first day on site.

Marry Me Mochi — Hillcrest Mall

Hillcrest Mall: A specialty food retail and service fitout within Hillcrest Mall, completed in the mall’s active operating environment. The project required custom millwork, branded fixture installation, and precise execution of the tenant’s design package — delivered on schedule within a live retail setting.

How a Restaurant Renovation with Silcon Works

Initial Contact

Call or email with your basics: possession date, space size, concept type, and any existing conditions we should know about. If you’re in a mall or managed property, let us know — the landlord relationship shapes how we plan the job from day one.

Site Review

We walk the space and assess the existing conditions, base-building, mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure, grease trap location, ventilation pathways, and any constraints that could affect your kitchen layout or schedule. We surface issues before they arise during the build.

Pricing & Proposal

We gather current material pricing and build a detailed, line-item quote with a project schedule that works backwards from your opening date. You’ll know what each phase costs and when it happens — no vague lump sums, no surprises.

Approval & Mobilization

Once you approve the quote, we order materials, coordinate permit submissions, schedule your subtrades, and book any required property management approvals. We mobilize on site, ready to execute — not to figure things out.

Supervised Build Through to Inspection-Ready Handover

A dedicated site supervisor runs the job daily, sequences every trade, and sends you regular progress updates and photos. We manage the build to your opening date and deliver a space that’s ready for inspection and ready for service.

Restaurant Renovation Services Across the Greater Toronto Area

We work with restaurant operators, franchise owners, food hall tenants, and independent concept owners across Toronto, Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Brampton, Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, and surrounding GTA municipalities. Enclosed malls, street-front locations, food courts, plaza end-caps, and mixed-use developments — we’ve built in them all.
